Papakolea (Green Sands Beach)
[rev_slider papakolea]   Green Sands Beach was selected as one of the Top Ten Beaches due to it’s uniqueness as one of the only four green sand beaches in the world. But it was also included in the overall Top Ten Adventures and Top Ten Sights because South Point is an interesting part of Hawaii (and the world) to see. South Point is the southernmost point in the United States, and a rugged isolated place with raw natural beauty for the adventurous souls. It is not for the faint of heart – and the time of year, weather, and ocean conditions are worth considering. It can be very windy here. And the ocean can be very rough and dangerous. And the road to the Green Sand Beach is for 4-wheel drive only. Otherwise a 2 1/2 mile walk is needed – but most who make it say it was worth it – even if you don’t actually get on the beach and take a swim.
